About the Program
What Is the CDCP?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program that provides dental coverage to eligible Canadians who do not have private dental insurance. It is administered by Sun Life on behalf of Health Canada.
The plan was introduced in phases starting in 2024, covering children under 12, seniors, and adults with disabilities first — and expanding to all eligible Canadians thereafter.
Eligible patients pay little to nothing for covered services, depending on their income level. Our team will verify your coverage and handle all billing directly with Sun Life.

Common Questions
CDCP FAQs
Does Dentistry on Norfolk South accept CDCP?
Yes — we are proud to participate in the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We will verify your coverage and submit claims directly to Sun Life on your behalf.
What is the income limit for full CDCP coverage?
If your adjusted family net income is under $70,000, 100% of eligible dental fees are covered. From $70,000–$79,999, you pay 40%; from $80,000–$89,999, you pay 60%. Over $90,000, you are not eligible.
Can I use CDCP with my private insurance?
No. CDCP is exclusively for Canadians who do NOT have access to private dental insurance. If you have any employer-sponsored or group dental plan, you are not eligible.
Does CDCP cover dental implants or Invisalign?
No. CDCP covers essential preventive, diagnostic, and basic restorative treatments. Major restorative work like implants, crowns, bridges, and orthodontics (Invisalign) are not covered. We offer flexible financing for these treatments.
How often can I use my CDCP benefits?
Coverage resets each benefit year (January–December). The number of covered visits per year depends on the specific procedure and your age. We will review your benefits when you come in.
I enrolled through Sun Life but lost my card — can I still come in?
Yes. We can look up your CDCP membership using your name and date of birth. Just call ahead so we can verify your coverage before your visit.
